Our NGO Major Group side event will focus on addressing the current underlying connections and organizational structures that present obstacles for civil society’s engagement in a context characterized by increasing shrinking spaces and erosion of civic freedoms. At a time when civil society groups bring in-depth knowledge and key expertise critical for the delivery of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the SDGs, this session will engage around an innovative dialogue aimed at transforming UN-CSO divides, where Member States also play a significant role.

In 2024 the goals under review encourage a holistic approach to the delivery of the 2030 Agenda. This year the key issues of reducing poverty (Goal 1) and hunger (Goal 2), tackling climate change (Goal 13) and ensuring a rights based approach (Goal 16) are all under review. This session will give an overview on the perspective of civil society on where the 2030 Agenda is now, touching on the gaps, needs for financing and data, as well as key investments required to turbocharge the SDGs as we head towards the 10-year milestone of their inception.
We hope to see you at these events!
