ImPACT Coalition for the 2024 UN Civil Society Conference in Nairobi

 Dear  members and partners, 

In September 2024 the UN will hold a “Summit of the Future” with the aim to mend eroded trust and demonstrate that international cooperation can effectively tackle challenges. A zero-draft of the outcome document of this summit, “Pact for the Future Zero Draft” has been published.

As part of the stakeholder consultations to feed into the Summit of the Future, the 2024 UN Civil Society Conference (9-10 May 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya) will focus on the Summit of the Future. With the aim to open room for drug policy voices the Vienna NGO Committee on Drugs applied, and got selected, to form an ImPACT Coalition for the upcoming Civil Society Conference in Nairobi (9-10 May). 

The title of our coalition and session is as follows: »The Future of Drug Policy – Civil Society Perspectives on Addressing the World Drug Situation«. It will build on the Global Civil Society Report and the recommendations identified therein. (see draft concept note) 

ImPACT Coalitions are a central part of the organizers’ strategy to mobilize various initiatives and steer them towards substantive global governance reforms. As one of the initial steps of the ImPACT Coalition we’ll convene a hybrid session on at the Civil Society Conference on 10 May 2024 (time tbc). 

We’re also pleased to inform you that we’ll be able to fund 2-3 civil society participants to join the conference in Nairobi and invite all interested NGO representatives to apply before Sunday, 28 April 2024: https://forms.office.com/e/dhwsjZsXF5
