Representing the NGO MG at the briefing to Member States about the UN 2023 Water Conference -- 12 April 2022, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm -- IN PERSON at UN HQ/NY and only with VALID UN GROUND PASS

 As you may already know, the United Nations General Assembly, in its resolution 73/226, decided to convene, in New York, from 22 to 24 March 2023, the United Nations Conference on the “Midterm Comprehensive Review of the Implementation of the Objectives of the International Decade for Action, ‘Water for Sustainable Development’, 2018–2028” (United Nations 2023 Water Conference). It will focus on the sustainable development and integrated management of water resources for the achievement of social, economic and environmental objectives, the implementation and promotion of related programmes and projects, as well as on the furtherance of cooperation and partnerships at all levels. The outcome of the Conference will be a summary that will feed into the high-level political forum on sustainable development (HLPF) held in July 2023.

The Governments of Tajikistan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands will co-host the Conference and a prior briefing to Member States about the UN 2023 Water Conference on 12 April 2022, from 10AM – 1PM (EDT) in Conference Room 2 at UN HQ. As part of the programme, the Co-hosts would like to have a discussion with representatives from civil society organizations, major groups and other stakeholders on their expectations for the Conference.

The NGO Major Group would like to nominate a representative to make a short intervention (no more than 4 minutes) addressing the guiding questions below. Please note that the person must be based in NY and have a valid UN grounds pass in order to access the meeting room.

2. What are some of the key themes that the Interactive Dialogues should be addressed at the
Conference?
3. How best can the Conference align with other intergovernmental processes?
