Commons Meetings: Formulating essence s for input to NGO Doc and HLPF web sites

Dear Friends, Colleagues and Team Mates,
Our next Commons strategy meeting and Nature Communications Workshop will take place on Saturday, March 7th 2020. Please find details below.
We shall be building on our Feb 8th work on “reaching the hearts an minds of our readers”, as we pick the essences from our two main projects:
  1. to be placed 
    • in the main NGO document on the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) web site;
    • possibly in the Ministerial Declaration (still uncertain), that will be made on the occasion of the UN's 75th Anniversary;
  1. to be used by those of us who will attend the HLPF in our name (July 7-17). If you would like to attend and lobby with us (and also the UN NGO Major Group), please let us know.
  2. To be used in summaries of our work so that all can see at a glance what we offer.

  • Start with a song by Helene for Maia!!!
  • Brain storming on main messages we want to give;
  • Brief summaries that speak to the heart;
  • Discussion of what we plan to do leading up to the HLPF, July 7-17, 20 20.
    • Letters in Spanish.
    • Do we want to build on the discussions at the Davos Economic Summit, e.g. write to HRH UK's Prince Charles? Anyone else? 
    • What about the BBC World Programme? How to build on the year-long series, that has been introduced by a speech by Sir David Attenborough. Such a contact might lead to an interview on the BBC World Programme.
    • Our next steps in reaching out to the US Congress and Presidential hopefuls. If you are interested to work on this initiative, please send your name to: 
  • It is also time to plan the online celebration of what we will have achieved.
  • the upcoming UN Environmental Assembly, which will be discussing
  • “Strengthening actions for nature to achieve the sustainable development goals”-- a title that is made for what we have to offer.

NATURE COMMUNICATIONS WORKSHOP
led by Dr. Maia Kincaid.

 Nature Communication with Maia Kincaid 2-8-20
Many indigenous peoples, pastoralists and people who live close to the land depend for their livelihoods and well being to be able to understand the signs Nature is giving. 
There are also many young children who are conscious from an early age of their capacity to communicate with Nature and some remain conscious of this capacity as adults. Princess Irene of the Netherlands wrote a book on communicating with trees.
Dr. Maia Kincaid provides a monthly workshop in communicating with Nature for those of us associated with the UN. She is an international consultant, who helps people around the world communicate with their animal friends She is the founder of the Sedona International School of Animal and Nature Communication .
This monthly workshop is a deeply rewarding experience as we practice becoming conscious of our inborn capacity to communicate with Nature while applying our skills to better understand how best to integrate Nature into the work being done at the UN.
We have our next Nature communication class on March 7th. 2020.
